2. Probably an engine temperature sensor. I had a similar issue with a '89 VW Fox. Cold temp would start fine and the moment it got warm..died. Wait 10 minutes good to go until it got warm. Good thing I had a service manual in the car and a calculator. I was near a Radio Shack and picked up 2 thermistors put them together plugged them in and

Make sure the filter is full of fuel first. Then the battery is fully charged. Loosen off the nuts on top of the injectors and crank in short bursts until fuel starts to come out. Tighten the nuts and repeat the process one injector at a time if it hasn't started after the first procedure.

this happened to me once. it was a broken engine earth strap (hopefully because its quick and cheap). connect test lamp (better still multimeter reading volts) to positive battery terminal then other end to a chassis earth ie: top of suspension leg. check reading. then to positive terminal and engine block to check engine is earthing correctly. if not check for a broken or corroded engine

If I switch the engine off after a drive, it won't restart if left for around 20 seconds or longer until it has cooled down for an hour or so.

If there’s been zero warning that the fuel filter could be going bad (hesitation, difficulty starting, etc) than a clogged fuel filter might not be the place to start.
